Hi, I’m Conor - a Head of Economics, AQA A-Level Economics examiner and experienced private tutor based in SE London.

I have 15 years of tutoring experience, 10 years of classroom teaching experience and 4 years of AQA examining experience.

I currently teach Economics and Maths at an OFSTED Outstanding secondary school, where I lead the Economics department. I also oversee Economics across 20 schools within the academy trust and I am accountable for over 1,000 students within this role.

Great tutoring is about more than knowing the subject. It’s about making difficult ideas understandable, building confidence and giving students the tools to succeed independently. That’s what I’ve spent the last 15 years learning to do.

  • My experience as an AQA A-Level Economics examiner gives me first-hand insight into how students' answers are assessed and what separates average responses from those achieving the highest marks.

    I help students move beyond simply knowing the Economics to applying it, developing analysis, evaluating effectively and communicating their understanding in an examination.

    I've worked with students of all abilities and have helped students achieve significant improvements, including E to A and D to B. Every student is different, so lessons are tailored to their individual needs, whether that means building confidence, filling knowledge gaps or pushing towards the highest grades.

  • I graduated from the University of Exeter with a 2:1 in BSc Economics & Finance, before completing an MA in Educational Leadership with Distinction at Bath Spa University. I also trained as a Mathematics teacher at UCL's Institute of Education.

    Before teaching, I worked in investment banking and corporate finance, including on multi-billion-pound transactions. I bring this real-world experience into my Economics teaching, helping students understand not just what they are learning, but why it matters.

    My approach is calm, focused and highly personalised. I want students to feel confident asking questions, develop genuine understanding and leave each lesson knowing more than when they arrived.

  • I've been tutoring for more than 15 years, working with students across a wide range of abilities.

    Some students need to rebuild their confidence and strengthen gaps in their knowledge. Others are already achieving highly and need to push towards an A or A*. I've helped students make significant progress, including E to A and D to B improvements, with two-grade improvements common among my students.

    Every student starts from a different position, so I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. I identify what is holding a student back and tailor lessons around it, whether that is understanding, confidence, exam technique or stretching their existing knowledge.

    The moment I'm ultimately looking for is simple:

    "I finally understand it!” or that “EUREKA!” moment.

    Because when a student genuinely understands something, confidence tends to follow.
